Africa Fashion Week New York 2011 Recap

So Africa Fashion Week New York was a great success. With designers being given a spotlight to showcase and mingle.

Inside Africa was there as Isha chatted with the director of AWFNY, Adiat Disu.  Before thestart of the show.  Adiat Disu imigrated form Nigeira at 15 years of age and now owns her own business in New York City. She created Africa Fashion Week from an inspirational runway show a few years back.

When I saw Michelle Obama landing in Pretoria, South Africa wearing that geometric jacket by Nigerian desinger Duro Oluwo, I wondered- what other great African desingers are out there who are very much deserving of some exposure to launch their plans?
Well, Africa Fashion Week New York (AFWNY) was a 3 day event that started in July 14, in New York City.  With this fashionable event came tons of much needed media attention that focused on the African trendsetter.  Multiple designers from African countries like Ethiopia, Nigeria and Uganda came to reveal their desings on the runway for the 3 day event.
